Food Fight 2011

The club participated in the "Annual Food Fight" for the Des Plaines Food Pantry and Self Help Closet.

The Pit Stop

On Friday 5 of us worked at the Pit Stop (previously the Craft Room) selling raffle tickets. The 5 were Joel Bloom, John Burke, Barbara Ryan, Folly Sorrenson and Betty Wurster. We were very successful in selling raffle tickets for some very nice prizes. All of the proceeds went to the Spastic Paralysis Research Foundation.

While we were at the Pit Stop, Ed Kenny was attending the business meeting.

In addition to the pictures showing the members and how busy it was at the Pit Stop, we can also see Lt Gov Jerry in his demonstrating the theme of the Pit Stop in his "racing" uniform

Friends at the II District convention

II District Convention 2009 - Luncheon

This year the Spastic Paralysis Luncheon honored Dr Janet Rowley for her research in cancer chromosomes.

Dr Rowley is also a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her work.

It was announced that because of the funds raised this year and pledged by the Spastic Paralysis Research Foundation; Dr Rowley will be able to acquire some needed equipment without going through the government red tape that would add greatly to the time, it would take to get the equipment.

Display at City Hall

During the month of August the Kiwanis Club of Des Plaines will have the use of the display case at City Hall.
